Getting started with Linux
|Linux can be confusing to new users. There’s a lot of jargon, and some things are quite different from what you may be used to. To help you take your first steps, we’ve put together a series of videos to help you understand what’s going on in this OS. It covers everything you need to know from what it is, to how to install it, to knowing where to look on your first boot. You’ll be up and running in no time!

My only complaint about these videos is that the definition is rather poor and makes it very hard to read from the screen.
Apart from that very good 😉
Did you switch to 720p in the options? (Cog bottom-right.) That makes all the text readable for me, although yes, some of it is quite small.
May be I’m thick but, is there a way to download the videos for viewing these wonderful tuition videos off line? I would like to show these to help win over potential users.
Hi Ray,
There are various Firefox extensions that let you grab videos from YouTube, such as: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-download/
That should do the trick. We could put the original videos up, but if we get a bit Slashdotting/Redditing/Hacker Newsing it could max out the bandwidth. Better to let YouTube handle that I reckon.
Thanks Mike, once loaded, rebooted and steered to YouTube, it all worked very well! (Well once I had noticed the Download Tab!!)
These will provide an excellent resource for moving people to Linux.

my favorite extension for downloading embedded video is flashgot.net from the makers of noscript
