You guys will go places.
It will be interesting to see how many (startup) publications will follow suit with this (sure fire) business plan.
But really, when you sit down and think about it, what you are doing, given the situation you are in, is the natural FOSS mentality thing to do.
And as far as I can see . . . . you will not loose.
You have my backing and I commend you on your contributions toward the spreading of information of GNU/Linux/FOSS.
Thanks Lager Monster! Yep, we all really want to make a magazine that's in the spirit of FOSS, and doesn't just talk about it. Everyone involved in FOSS — developers, users, documenters, artists — contributes something back, and we think a magazine should too. Here's hoping we reach the target!
Mike, has anyone been trying to generate corporate donations? I did a little research and found the major sponsors of the Open Source Initiative here – http://opensource.org/sponsors
These companies may be willing to make contributions that individuals cannot. I actually did some digging to find out how to solicit from HP (new hardware for Linux Voice Towers/Andrew's Apartment?) and got this far – http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/socialinnovation/emea/emea_grant_guidelines.html
Solicitations must come from the beneficiary so I couldn't go any further.
You may not be a non-profit, but note that they also support "non-lucrative organizations". Giving away 50% of your profits that very well could be you.
We thought it was just a coincidence that the LV theme, couch and laptop colours all happened to match. But maybe it's the powers of the universe saying that yes, Linux Voice is meant to happen! Fingers crossed 🙂

Thanks muchly Burgess, will look into it!
Andrew, did you get a laptop to match the couch, or a couch to match the laptop?
More importantly (?), can't wait for issue #1!
