good luck guys!
just finished listening to today’s podcast and was shocked by your final anoucement.
Me too! what's happening to my @world! I fear change!
With the Linux Outlaws podcast on hiatus, I nearly had a panic attack when the final announcement happened. I've listened to other Linux podcasts, but found them lacking, or worse, apparently shilling products that nobody wants as part of their content.
A world without Tux Radar and Linux Outlaws is a scary place.
Linux Outlaws is finally back now that Fab has settled in his new job in Germany. There is an episode on their YouTube channel that is due for audio release any time now.
Hey thanks, that's good to know 🙂
Please Please Please don't stop with the Tuxradar/LLS podcast. As said, there aren't many good linux podcasts, and there are only two good and fun Linux podcasts. (or three if you count the ubuntu UK podcast, but calling ubuntu a linux feels strange these days).
Oh, and sorry to spam this place up 🙂
But I'd like to repeat a previous comment I left on Tux Radar, please have a look at using Opus instead of Vorbis, it really is amazingly good, and you'll end up with even smaller downloads.
For example, Series 5 Episode 16 was about an hour long, as a 128kbps Vorbis file it was 60MB, you could release the same thing as a 64kbps Opus file and halve the file size and still get excellent quality.
Glad to see that you are carrying on, free from the corporate shackles of Future. Will we ever find out why you all left Linux Format?
Hi guys, excited to know what is happening next…so pleased the podcasts are continuiing here I did panic for a moment!
I too was shocked to hear the final announcement but I’m really glad to hear you’ll be carrying on over here. After discovering your show last year sometime I went back and listened to every episode, in order, from the beginning.
Your show has been the podcasting highlight of my fortnights. I didn’t even know what a fortnight was until I heard your show! (I’m from the US)
Anyway, I’ll be eager to follow along. Thanks.
Sad news! Does anyone know if LXF will continue with new (or mostly new) staff?
I can't wait for the first podcast. Yay!
I wish you guys the best of luck with the new podcast – I'll be listening from the start!
Any chance you could set up a G+ account for those of us who don't use Twitter? I get sad when I see how much great Linux-related content there is on Google's social network but that the cream of all Linux content (what you lot put out) doesn't touch it…
Glad to see you're not giving up! Looking forward to the first podcast. To set this stuff up, you might want to have a look at http://podlove.org/ and https://auphonic.com/ , both of which automate a lot of the boring stuff connected to Podcasting.
Auphonic even supports Opus 🙂

Yes, I'm a broken record, but I want to see the best open standard used everywhere.
Good luck guys with this new venture. I second the call for there to be another location other than twitter which we can follow. Really looking forward to the first podcast when it is released. Long live Linux Lifestyle!
Here I go away for a few days and everything goes to hell in a hand basket! Thankfully, due to your (no doubt) stiff upper lips, you're going to soldier on and we, your dedicated listeners, will still be able to benefit from your witticisms, pithy comments, and all around great good humor!
Why don’t you just use the site’s RSS feed? That way neither you nor they have to sign up with some privacy-eradicating, proprietary website.
If you’re not familiar with RSS, it’s basically a means for using a client to track updates to a website. Very handy stuff. It already works with the mast vajority of websites (so you don’t have to hassle anyone into signing up for some lame service), it’s open, and it’s simple. I recommend you check it out!
Thanks for the support! We will indeed be putting up an RSS feed. Stay tuned…
Anonymous – I am fully aware of RSS, thanks. The lads aren't taking a particularly ultra-Stallmanite approach to proprietary privacy eradication, as demonstrated by the fact that they use Twitter. I don't imagine that them creating a G+ page would lead to any more of their data being farmed that already is. Furthermore, I didn't hassle, I asked – and G+ is not a lame service at all. It's fantastic, active, vibrant and serendipitous, and I wouldn't have suggested it otherwise. There are very active communities dedicated to just about all the distros, window managers, media players and so on that you could imagine. Also, it's pretty much the best place to go for help nowadays – you'll get a better answer quicker asking an Ubuntu-related question there than you will on the Ubuntu forums, for example.
If anyone needs convincing about how awesome Google+ is then check out the stats:
Ubuntu community members: 103,877
Windows 8 community members: 1,185
Hi Guys,
It's great to see so many responses to the first post.
We've got a Google plus page at https://plus.google.com/112031553672470421483/. It's pretty empty at the moment, but we'll update it as things happen (it won't be long!)
There's also an RSS feed at http://www.linuxvoice.com/feed/. We'll put up proper links to both shortly.
Thanks for all your support, and stay tuned.
Great to see that you are setting up a new podcast! I really love your insight and humour. Good luck and I am eagerly awaiting the first episode with the new brand 🙂
Good luck guys.
Just listened to the last Tux Radar podcast and was completely flummoxed with the bombshell you ended on.
Glad to hear you're carrying on the podcast as Linux Lifestyle and looking forward to the first episode.
Also pleased to see the Tux Radar archive available here – it is quite a rich, and dare I say it, important resource to have freely available.
I'm also a subscriber to the magazine so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what' going to happen on that front. Needless to say, if it carries on without you guys it just won't be the same.
Anyway, good luck with the new podcast and I wish you all well with whatever you do next in your careers.
I always listen to TuxRadar Podcast doing my ironing, so was pleased I'd put that rather hot thing down when you announced it was the last, or I might have burnt myself! Best of luck to all of you who, presumably, have had a very difficult time at Future in recent times. I have now included this site in my Akregator feeds, so will follow you all here and see where it leads!
Hi,
what a shock !
Why ?
Will Linux Format continue ?
Will we have to wait for the feature film (title: Freedom Fighters of North Europe) to be released before learning of the cause.
For myself I'll be busy building conspiracy theories involving Elop, Oracle etc.
Best regards to everyone else (looking forward to the first of your new podcasts.
Yay! I've deleted the Tuxradar rss feed and added yours. Can't wait for the first podcast.
Like most, major shock to hear the LXF-TR podcast going down, with the (temporary?) going dark of the LO podcast I was beginning to suspect that the black helicopters of the Oracle/Microsoft/Apple alliance had been at work! <grin> Also kind of worried for the future of LXF mag itself, not that Future's marketing has done it any favours…
Great to hear that the crew are still about, and even better that I might still be able to hear their sage wisdom while working. I look forward to the first Linux Lifestyle podcast with baited breath. And should we (the readers/listeners) be thinking about Flattr etc (after all there's hosting costs, etc)?
Yikes! Well *that* was a surprise at the end of the latest TR podcast.
Good luck and maybe see you in The Old Green Tree for a Pitchfork or two.
Blue Systems are clearly behind all this. Looking forward to the next podcast!
Argggh! That was quite a suprise! I may need to apologies to the residents of Netherthorpe for my wails of despair as I listened to the podcast on my way home from work. I'm looking forwards to the new podcast already.
Hi
this message will probably get lost in the mass that has already been posted. However, I wish you all the luck in your new ventures, I do hope you are setting up your own magazine I can subscribe to.
As we say in Yorkshire, "By-eck, i'm dammed t'curious as t' why thy's left" hope at some point you can shed some light on the issue.
Sooo sorry to hear your last podcast. But things sounded strained over the last 6 months or so. Wish you all the best, hope you can 'spread your wings' now and make a million.
Let us know how we can help.
Sad to see the end of the podcast but pleased you're going to start afresh – will be keeping an eye open. Good luck with future ventures.
Now, who's winning at Phoenix!?
Loved the Tux Radar podcast (made walking the dog much more enjoyable) so I'm glad you're carrying on.
All the best guys.
I'm still reeling from the shock! Just listened to the last episode of tr.
Very sad the podcast ends and worried about my favorite linux mag as well. But if it means we get mike back it's almost worth it!
If you need money please put up a donation thingy. I'd like to help get ghis off the ground.
Keep up the good work and hope you find new jobs soon.
Like Steve Riddett said, I'd be glad to donate some $USD to the podcast. Thanks so much for keeping it going.
This. You guys have the best Linux Podcast around, and I've tried many of them. Please add a donation mechanism of some kind so we can help you guys out as you look for new gigs.
What a gut wrenching last episode! The best of luck to you guys!
The last announcement on TuxRadar nearly gave me a real shock , I'm glad to see this website is up , Happily awaiting the next podcast. I would gladly donate to running costs.
As everyone else, I was surprised and saddened by the revelation on the podcast. Linux Format is losing some good guys. Anyway, glad to hear you're all striking it out alone and shall carry on the same spirit.
Nealy fell off a ladder today as I was replacing a double glazing window while listening to the podcast and then you dropped that bomb!!! Really shocked and saddened to hear the last LXF podcast with the A team, always the first podcast I listened to and loked forward to, informative and entertaining to the last.
I hope your pheonix can rise out of the ashes!
Hi Guys I wish to say I gutted you lost your jobs and wish you all the best for whatever you decide to do in your lives. I loved the new podcast.
I demand Andrew. And, in December. Graham.
Great work on the transition. Really happy to see you guys continue what is a great podcast. Please don't underestimate how keen the following is.
Oh, and another thing; please get Effie on 🙂
