  • Ian Murdoch, the ‘ian’ in Debian, has died aged 42. AMD is overhauling its driver approach with new open source GPU drivers. Linux has been hacked into running on Sony’s Playstation 4 games console. IPv6 20 years old and at 10% adoption. Dutch government opposes backdoors in encryption, and donates 500M Euros to OpenSSL.

    • <mcphail> My find has been setting “/umode +R” on IRC stops the majority of drive-by private-message proselytising by religious nutters. I also found that bcache (using an SSD as cache for a HDD) handles power cuts quite gracefully, having had some problems with the ‘leccy during the storms but no filesystem corruption during writes.
