Stallman: Free Software more important than ever
GNU is celebrating its 30th birthday, and Richard Stallman has written a piece over at Wired explaining why free software is more important than ever before. It’s a great read because RMS doesn’t just focus on the age-old principles of FOSS, he also talks about modern threats such as cloud computing services removing our freedom and control.
Congratulations RMS for thirty years of fighting the good fight. We know the world still isn’t perfect, but it’s an awful lot better than it might be thanks to your hard work and dedication.

RMS is god. A good few months ago Stallman made a comment about slavery being illegal in the UK but in still existing. Up until that point I could not find fault with anything RMS said. I thought the slavery thing was nuts. Then on TV a number of raids were shown where people were kept as slaves.
Stallman warned against propriatory software and the cloud. He could see BS like PRISM well before Edward Snowden revealed it.

As usual with RMS, that article is a glorious mix of the whole spectrum from utterly inspired to utterly daft. Like him or loathe him, you should never ignore him. For example I don't agree with his definition of "malware" in services.
One interesting aspect though – you have the 'freedom' to NOT offer copies, i.e. not distribute. That seems to go against the "all software should be free and freely available" aspect that most assume RMS to espouse.
